Every year, during the month of April, volunteers around the world are celebrated for sharing their time, energy, and talents with those around them. SIOP is joining the celebration by acknowledging the hard work and commitment shown by its nearly 1,000 volunteer members.
“I’m grateful that SIOP has such strong, motivated volunteers who care about our mission of promoting the science, practice, and teaching of I-O psychology,” said Scott Tannenbaum, SIOP president. “They make SIOP better, and we try to ensure that their volunteering experiences help them learn and build their networks as well.”
SIOP’s governance model relies on dedicated volunteer involvement. Throughout the past year, volunteers have served in a wide variety of roles to support the SIOP mission and engage with colleagues.
In addition to serving on a committee, you can volunteer by:
- Advocating for and promoting I-O psychology
- Running for SIOP office
- Sharing your expertise and opinions
- Serving as a conference proposal reviewer
- Helping at the annual conference
- And more!
As part of SIOP’s goal to build a diverse, inclusive, and agile Society, we welcome volunteers from all areas of I-O psychology and from all stages of their careers.
If you would like to serve SIOP in a volunteer role, keep an eye out for the SIOP Volunteer System (SVS) opening in early May. All members who have paid their dues for 2025 will receive an email when the SVS opens. In our newly updated system, you can easily:
- Indicate your preferred committee.
- Share a note about why you’re interested in serving on a particular committee.
- Update your profile in Personal Snapshot to ensure that committee chairs can view your current information.
All members, with the exception of Affiliates, are eligible to volunteer with SIOP. We look forward to working with you to promote the science, practice, and teaching of I-O psychology.
