The SIOP Foundation is committed to improving the lives of workers and the functioning of organizations through the science and practice of Industrial/Organizational Psychology.

SIOP Anti-Racism Grants

The Anti-Racism Grants program stimulates and supports projects intended to promote our understanding of racism and eliminate it from the workplace. I-O psychologists conduct and apply “research that improves the well-being and performance of people and the organizations that employ them.” Because the presence of overt and institutionalized racial discrimination constitutes direct and indirect threats to the well-being and performance of employees and employers, anti-racism in the workplace is a topic that must be addressed.  For the purposes of the Anti-Racism Grants, “racism” is defined as “prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.”

Robert and Anne Morrison Creativity Fund

The purpose of the Robert and Anne Morrison Creativity Fund is to support research-based creative endeavors of the SIOP Foundation, Inc.  The Fund is intended to support a wide range of activities that support the application of scientific findings to practices in organizations.  The types of activities that are covered are intentionally open to foster creative ideas that will promote the use of I/O science in organizations.   The following examples are presented to stimulate thought:

  • support for pro bono and volunteer projects
  • grants for doctoral dissertation research replications
  • grants for constructive and registered thesis replication studies
  • support for master’s and doctoral IO psychology graduate programs
  • off-campus internships
  • dollar-for-dollar matching incentives to encourage donations
  • field research on individual differences
  • longitudinal studies
  • development of quantitative analysis techniques
  • small group meetings
  • preparation and distribution of best practice compendia for public consumption

All projects must have practical implications for organizations and the people who work in them.

Funding of the Grant

Each year, the SIOP Foundation Board of Trustees will review the spendable funds available in the Morrison Fund.  When spendable funds are available, the Board of Trustees will determine whether to issue a call for proposals or to use the funds for a Foundation-sponsored initiative.   If a call for proposals is to be issued, the Board of Trustees will specify the requirements for submitting a proposal, state the criteria for the grant, indicate the maximum amount of the grant to the Awards Committee, and the expectations of recipients related to reporting and acknowledgement of the Morrison Fund and the SIOP Foundation.
